About Us

In 2008, ILSI Argentina celebrated its 18^th anniversary as part of the ILSI organization, which is an international institution of dedicated to promote the public health at the global level.

Recognizing Argentina’s strong scientific tradition, a proposal to initiate ILSI in Argentina was first made in 1988. After several visits to Buenos Aires by the president and founder of ILSI, Dr Alex Malaspina, and the vice-president, Dr Ulrich Mohor, ILSI Argentina was formally established in 11 December 1989.

We began work immediately.

Our activities began with a focused plan on topics that were then a high-priority for our country: harmonization of nutrition legislation; water quality; Codex Alimentarius; and eco-toxicology. We were pioneering in the treatment of subjects like: ozone and UV radiation and its impact on health; risk analysis; and more then recently, biotechnology; functional foods; bio-security; obesity; and physical activity.

As of 1999, a new generation of professionals from academia, government, and the industry has helped ILSI Argentina grow so that today 11 different work groups producing publications, implementing scientific projects, and collaborating with many Argentine institutions.  Since 2000, we have been committed to reaching out to professional and provincial institutions, something w have achieved each as part of our goals and objectives.

None of this would be possible without the generous support of our members, and the dedication of our scientific advisors and representatives from our member companies and government, all of whom contribute their time and expertise to our work.
