Statement issued by ILSI Europe on 24 October 2010

ILSI Europe accepts Professor Diána Bánáti's decision to resign from the ILSI Europe Board of Directors with regret.  Her high level scientific contributions to the oversight of ILSI Europe were greatly appreciated.

ILSI Europe is proud of its long history of making scientifically credible contributions to enhancing understanding of food science, nutrition, food safety and risk assessment.  A key component of the organisation's success is the inclusion of scientists from a variety of scientific backgrounds and affiliations.

We take great care to ensure that everything we do is of the highest scientific quality, and rigorously adhere to the ILSI Code of Ethics and Organisational Standards of Conduct; an important component of which is the prohibition of lobbying. We continue to advocate for the use of sound science by those charged with making decisions that affect the health and well-being of the public and the environment.  Such advocacy has not in the past, nor will it in the future, lead ILSI Europe to make specific policy recommendation or advocate for specific policy decisions, which would be lobbying.

For further queries, please contact ILSI Europe's Executive Director through +32 2 771 00 14.
