Mass media has more and more important impacts on people’s knowledge, attitude, and behavior along with the increase of health concern in Chinese people. Consequently, ILSI Focal Point in China decided to organize a series of media forum to deliver valid and update scientific information to mass media, in order to disseminate this information to the public via media.
ILSI Focal Point in China, in collaboration with Outlook Weekly, a major Chinese magazine, and ThinkTank Research Center for Health Development, initiated the first Media Forum on Scientific Information on Health for media reporters in April 2004.
Since then, the series of ILSI Focal Point Media Forums have focused on the health and science concerns of government, academia, and the public. To disseminate scientific information to society at-large and develop close linkage and efficient communication between scientists and the public, the Media Forum on Health Information encourages face-to-face discussion among journalists and scientists.
