INTERNATIONAL LIFE SCIENCES INSTITUTE MISSION
The International Life Sciences Institute (ILSI) is a nonprofit, worldwide organization whose mission is to improve public health and well-being. It achieves this mission by engaging academic, government, and industry experts in a neutral forum to advance scientific understanding related to nutrition, food safety, risk assessment, and the environment.
ILSI NORTH AMERICA MISSION
The North American branch of the International Life Sciences Institute (ILSI North America) is a public, non-profit scientific foundation that advances the understanding and application of science related to the nutritional quality and safety of the food supply. The organization carries out its mission by sponsoring research programs, professional and educational programs and workshops, seminars, and publications, as well as providing a neutral forum for government, academic, and industry scientists to discuss and resolve scientific issues of common concern for the well-being of the general public. ILSI North America's programs are supported primarily by its industry membership.
VALUE OF MEMBERSHIP
Membership in ILSI North America provides the opportunity to develop new research knowledge and to interpret and assess the status of current scientific issues through the large network of academia, industry, and government experts in diverse areas of food science, nutrition, safety, and risk assessment. ILSI North America members can bring forth new topic areas of investigation or make use of the existing infrastructure and network to address an unexpected scientific issue. Each member may choose to tailor their areas of support to their specific needs.
- There are currently more than 60 active academic and government scientists contributing over 1500 volunteer hours per year, in addition to top scientists and executives from over 30 of the largest food and beverage manufacturers in North America.
- In 2011 ILSI North America’s scientific research resulted in 14 publications and a variety of 26 events which included scientific meetings, conferences and webinars.
- Government and other international institutions recognize your partnership in providing scientific solutions through association with ILSI North America.
- ILSI North America is connected through the global network of 15 ILSI branches that provides access to expertise from scientists across the globe.

The scientific process requires open, transparent examination and honest interpretation of data. ILSI North America is committed to such a process and requires that scientists who work with us disclose any potential conflicts of interest. ILSI North America is committed to academic freedom and encourages publication of all research results, regardless of outcome.
Our commitment to transparency extends to ILSI North America-sponsored meetings and publications. ILSI North America publications undergo stringent peer-review by qualified experts prior to publication. Sources of funding for meetings and publications are disclosed.
