Workshop on the Approaches to Setting Intervention Targets with Limited Data for Low-Moisture Food Commodities

The Food Microbiology Committee collaborated with the American Peanut Council to develop a detailed protocol for testing low-moisture commodities (raw peanuts). The invitation-only workshop was held on 4 April 2011 with the goal of developing a framework for determining pathogen prevalence.

The Complex Roles of Dietary Lipids in Cellular Function and Health

ILSI North America presented a scientific session at Experimental Biology 2011 summarizing research on the impact of dietary lipids on health. The session addressed issues related to emerging dietary lipid science, including the active role of lipids in modulating physiological pathways that may relate to disease outcomes.
Implementation Issues of the Codex Fiber Definition: Towards Resolution

This session, held at the Second International ICC Conference: Nutrition, Biotechnology and Safety: Keys for Cereal Chain Innovation in Santiago, Chile, presented the science that supports inclusion of substances with DP 3-9 as being included in the definition of dietary fiber, as well as other issues related to supporting regional efforts to implement the 2008 Codex fiber definition.
