| Workshop on Recommended Dietary Allowances (RDAs) and Food-Based Dietary Guidelines (FBDGs) in Southeast Asian Countries – Art of Harmonization and Communication |

Recommended Dietary Allowances (RDAs) are the most common and well accepted standards among nutrition experts for nutrient intake, while Food-based Dietary Guidelines (FBDGs) have been established as dietary guidance for the general population to help meet nutrients requirement as well as other non-nutrients in foods such as phytochemicals.
Recognizing the need to promote scientific approach in the development of RDAs and FBDGs in Southeast Asia region, ILSI SEA Region has organized a series of seminars and workshops and published a monograph “Recommended Dietary Allowances - Harmonization in Southeast Asia” to facilitate the harmonization of RDAs and communication of FBDGs to consumers. A survey to find out the current status of RDA and FBDGs in the region has been conducted and the invited experts at this meeting will discuss the findings and recommend action plan to key stakeholder in the region.
Workshop objective (closed-door meeting): - To share the survey results on the RDAs and FBDGs in SEA countries - To identify data gaps, barriers and research areas in the development of RDAs and FBDGs - To discuss challenges and opportunities in harmonizing RDA - To discuss strategies to better communicate FBDGs to consumers
