| Seoul, Korea 10/28/2008 - 10/29/2008 |
ILSI Korea and the ILSI International Food Biotechnology organized this in collaboration with the Korea Food and Drug Administration. More than 200 participants from government, academia, industry, and the press participated in the public workshop. More than 50 participated in the expert work group workshop.
The workshop provided comprehensive information related to food and feed derived from biotechnology, including:
- safety assessment and labeling practices in Japan, Korea, and Europe
- cases of socioeconomic evaluation in Korea and Europe
- consumer perceptions of "genetically modified organisms"
The workshop was able to highlight the less-discussed but important aspect of regulation: socioeconomic impact analysis; risk-benefit approaches; and consumer understanding, especially in Asian countries. |
