Abstract: Speakers provided fundamental insight into the characterization of the most important sites of action of bioactive food components and into how an individual's hereditary profile is a determinant of molecular events involved with the development of obesity. Research gaps in our knowledge of the mechanism and the prevalence of obesity were identified. Some highlights include:
- Gut Peptide Signaling in Food Intake Control
- Translation Regulation of Gene Expression by Omega-3 Fatty Acids: Implications for Cancer Prevention and Treatment
- Low-carbohydrate Diets in the Treatment of Obesity
- Increased Intake of Dairy Products Has Been Implicated in Reducing Body Weight and Fat Mass in Humans and in Animal Models
- Statistical Genetics and Obesity: Dietary Implications
