Together Counts!

TAKE 10!® Joins the Healthy Weight Commitment Foundation and takes the Together Counts challenge.

The ILSI Research Foundation’s TAKE 10! program is an award-winning school-based intervention integrating physical activity with academic lessons. Joining the Healthy Weight Commitment Foundation coalition is part of TAKE 10!’s strategic commitment to partnerships to achieve healthier lifestyles through small behavior changes.

Healthy Weight Commitment Foundation
The Healthy Weight Commitment Foundation is a national, multi-year effort designed to help reduce obesity–especially childhood obesity–by 2015. It’s a first-of-its kind coalition that brings together more than 150 retailers, food and beverage manufacturers, restaurants, sporting goods and insurance companies, trade associations and non-governmental organizations (NGOs), the US Army, and professional sports organizations. The Healthy Weight Commitment Foundation promotes ways to help people achieve a healthy weight through energy balance – calories in and calories out. It focuses on three critical areas – the marketplace, the workplace and schools.

   

Together Counts!
On 28 April, the Healthy Weight Commitment Foundation launched a social media campaign called “Together Counts” – a challenge to inspire families to take two simple steps toward a healthier and happier life:

  • Eat meals together
  • Share regular physical activities together

TAKE 10! Tips You Can Do Together!

TAKE 10! fruits & vegetable servings
serve a vegetable or fruit at every meal to achieve 5 to 9 servings per day

TAKE 10! walk-n-talk
kids love one-on-one time with their parents; take 10 minutes to walk with each of your children one time each week and talk about school, friends and life

TAKE 10! grams of fiber
serve whole grains at your family meals

TAKE 10! ounces of water
serve water at your family meals - add a slide of lemon or lime!

TAKE 10! different activities in a month schedule 10 different activities that your family will try over 10 weeks; try yoga, play
T-ball, or spend time on a playground.  Have fun and teach your child about different ways to be active
